Then I realized we had to get up. And on top of that we have to wake the kiddo up.

Good reason though, Ijah’s 15 month appointment…where we were told he was perfect and we were great parents. Makes it worth it.

Next time I think it’s genius to schedule an appointment for 8:30 am though, I’m going to remember that I may have one of those perfect mornings again…and I’ll schedule for 10am instead.

In the past month the tornado sirens have gone off twice. Each time I find myself scrambling for some sort of update on why the hell they are going off and if I should pack up baby, cats, and husband and cower in the laundry room closet.

I find this amusing because here I am, surrounded by what I believe to be the most fantastic technology around and at that moment I would trade it in for a working am radio…

I know I can get the information I need off of my super technology, but there’s something comforting about just turning on a t.v. or radio and immediately being told weather or not you are in mortal peril…even my bookmarks and apps can’t move that fast.

Not that I’m gonna trade it in or anything…I’m just saying…sometimes, rarely but sometimes, you want a hot dog just as much as sushi you know?

The wind came up and took the hat right off of Ijahs head today on our way to meet Sherman for coffee. The gust just lifted it up and blew it into the middle of Lyndale Ave. It flipped and blew, being pushed along by the wind and the rushing of cars, always about fifteen feet ahead of us. It would settle for a moment and then pick right up again, always keeping ahead, moving with the traffic, it was a hat that wanted to be free. It wasn’t happy being shoved on the head of a boy that didn’t want it. When we reached the corner it crossed over to the other side and began traveling back the same way, gust then car, gust then car, running away from us in a different direction. Like a bright red land locked jellyfish, inflating and deflating as it needed to to progress.

It was fantastic to watch.

It looked like a poem, if not at least the inspiration for one.

When I told people about it they were apologetic about us losing the hat…It was absolutely worth it.
