Sherman has been clean shaven a few times in our relationship. Our wedding was one…he was some when we were dating…I can’t really remember any others.

I remember the last time shaved though, well not specifically the time, but my reaction, which was to the best of my knowledge “Oh my God! What happened to your face?!”

I didn’t mean it mean, it was just suprising. I don’t think he warned me, and as a lover of his facial hair I was shocked.

We both learned from that experience.

This time he let me know what he was doing. And this time I responded more appropriately.

“Hey handsome, my husbands not around, you wanna have dinner and then…I don’t know… ”

A much better response, and a much happier husband.

And although I love the fuzzy face, he does look good both ways, and now I won’t have to pull my hairs out of his beard after every hug.

I have had a very good day. A fantastic balance of work and play. Visited friends, got a lot done around the house, did laundry, chatted with Sherman, played with Ijah and my silverware drawer is still organized.

I know that sounds like a little thing, and it is…but it’s really nice to be able to find a spoon when you want one.

And I got the sweetest card ever from my husband. Sweetest ever. And well timed. And perfect. And beautiful.

Yes today was a very good day, and here I am recognizing that…

And to think I woke up grouchy…duh…

I remember the first time I met you, I remember the booth and what you were wearing. I remember the parties you threw and how somehow I started being the first one there, and then a sort of co-host. I remember all of our walks around the lake, both before and after “us”. I remember the catalyst that made me realize how important you were to me, and the trip that changed everything.

I remember the day you proposed, the when and the where, but somehow not the words. I still have the Lifesaver.

The blur of that year and our wedding is as focused as it can be. I just remember being so happy, smiling until my face hurt.

Our fantastic honeymoon, and the news we came back too. I remember the look on your face when I told you we were going to have a baby, and how I felt instantly at ease about it because of you. I remember all the excitement and all of the work, how amazing and supportive you were. I remember introducing you to your son, and the tears in your eyes.

I remember the hardest times, and the worst days imaginable, and the ones after where things became right. The worries about so many things and the strain of it all. The talks and hugs and walks and love made it all right and new again. I remember seeing you in a new light, realizing you aren’t invincible despite what I had thought, and I remember wanting you closer because of it.

The day to day life fills my memory and there hasn’t been a day that I didn’t want to be married to you. Every day, good or bad, I love having you with me.

Two years of marriage isn’t a lot to some people. It’s a flash in a lifetime.

I’m glad that lifetime is with you.

Happy Anniversary.

Sherman threw out his back. Somewhere between packing up the car from a second floor apartment, hauling boats around, lifting batteries, babies, and sleeping on a crappy bed he has gotten into full out old man, can’t move mode. He hates it, I get it. He’s kinda funny about it, kinda pouting, trying to do stuff, cringing a fair amount. All the while I’m practicing my “nag” voice. “Don’t lift that!” “Sit down!”. “I’ll get it!” Fun fun stuff.

It makes me realize though, that I have it pretty good. Even if I’m full time Ijah tender on some days I don’t also have to be garbage taker, car packer, grocery carrier, and spouse prop.

Even when we aren’t really doing anything, we each do a lot, and I certainly feel it when Sherman is under the weather. So thanks for all you do honey! And get better soon.….please.…
