Wow, anyone who says smoking doesn’t make their house dirty has not seen these blinds.

Hrmmm…we are way behind the picture hanging curve…

Did all of these apartments have the same decorator?

Those can’t be real.…

Apparently I’m a bit of a voyeur.

Makes watering the grounds more interesting though…

The other day a blurb flashed by on the intertubes that I had to click. A breastfeeding doll. Complete with sucking, burping and gurgling noises. A little halter top with flower nipples you pop on and into the plastic dolls mouth. You may have heard of it, I’m not going to link to any of the sites with it because…well honestly I’m just to lazy.

I spoke with a couple people about it, but what really got me rolling were some of the comments about this thing. “Discusting”, “Disturbing”, “Horrible”, “Sexualizing”. Talk about pedophiles and pornography mingled with the praise at showing a baby being fed the “natural” way.

It doesn’t bother me.

Do I think its nessasary? Would I buy one? Aren’t I repulsed at the sexualization of our daughters?!

No. To all of the above.

I could go into many different rants about many different things but it comes down to this. Some parents breastfeed, some bottle feed. Dolls in general are creepy.

Everyone going psycho about it being “sexualizing” and “disgusting” really need to deal with their issues. Lactation may be sexy to some, but the ones that have it as a fetish aren’t looking for a little girl with a pretend doll and pretend flower nipples on a halter top. They are looking for big’ol new Momma boobies. As far as disgusting goes? Do you drink milk? know where it comes from? eat hot dogs?…cause if you do, you really need to deal with your boob issues.

Little girls, and boys, see women nurse. They ask about it, they mimic it, they don’t think its “gross” until they hit close to puberty or watch WAY too much t.v. I’ve seen kids put dolls up to or under their shirts to nurse, it’s the same thing their Mom or Aunt or family friend did. They learn from watching. They also know how to put a bottle up to a babies mouth. None of this is harmful in any way…Unless of course you take the route that all of this obsessing over dolls being “babies” and calling six year old girls good “mommies” teaches them to have kids early and often as that’s all they are supposed to do as girls…but I’m not going that route…I do wonder though.

As I looked into this further I found a few things. This isn’t the first breastfeeding doll…but most of the others are cloth and come with a little cloth mom with little cloth nipple (and sometimes snaps or magnetic attachments.…*shudder*). There are also dolls that give birth. Once again, nice little fabric mommas with nice little fabric babies…no mess involved. None of those bothered me either, except for the snaps…

Not what I do find horrifying are many of the others dolls on the market. The fashonista “Brats”, the super made up Diva dolls, the ones that show that the type of shoes you wear and kind of bag you carry is really what being cool and popular is all about, and that the way to look cute is to dress as much like a pop star as possible. That’s scary.

I for one, am glad at this point that I have a little boy. And if I have another and he sees me breastfeeding I’ll explain that it’s how some Mommies feed their babies and I wont laugh when he holds his stuffed monkey up to his nipple.

Sherman and I were having a discussion about debate the other day. Well that just seems odd…a discussion about debate..but anyway. I have never been much of a debater. While I have strong feelings on some subjects and have no problem talking about them it’s just not that important to be agreed with. Most of the time if someone disagrees with me I will state my point, listen to theirs, elaborate if necessary but if not leave it alone. This frustrates some people to no end! Honestly if you don’t believe the same thing as I do, so be it, that is your right.

Some see this lack of wanting to debate as a weakness. I see it as I’m just right and don’t really care if you think so or not. Sounds a bit cocky I know…but I’m stubborn…and I don’t like to make people cry. I will openly admit if I don’t know enough about a subject to “debate” it properly, that seems to irritate people as well as I think they want to show off their “knowledge” to somebody, anybody, whom it might impress.

It comes up today because of a string of comments that I contributed to on a website. I guess I picked a fight. I said I didn’t like a certain kind of beer. Wow! What an uproar! Next thing I know my writing is being insulted, I’m being told that I don’t know what I like, and that I have limited beer experience. I almost expected a “Your Mom” to be thrown in. It just made me laugh.

Maybe thats more the issue, it makes me laugh to see people get so bent out of shape over something so trivial. They don’t dig the laughing. Oh well, call me a trouble maker.

“Never contend with one that is foolish, proud, positive, testy, or with a superior, or a clown, in matter of argument.” Thomas Fuller
