As a born again YWCA member (actually I was a member of the YMCA before but I don’t think it really matters, a Y is a Y to me) I have been trying to get accustomed to locker room etiquette again. I see the “no cellular phone” signs everywhere and obey them, at first I didn’t understand then I remembered picture phones and Twitter and started hyperventilating. I make sure and dry off my feet so I don’t leave slippery trails of death throughout he area. I try to pick a locker not in the middle of a bunch of taken lockers, it may not be a rule but it should be.

My only real issue, and I wouldn’t call it an issue so much as a curiosity, is what is with the excessive nudity? I get it, you change clothes, you switch to a swim suit, you shower, all of these things require being naked at some point and that’s not a big deal but I don’t get why everything has to be naked with some people. The long leisurely public shower? What is relaxing about this? I have definitely hopped onto the scale in the buff for maximum results but brushing your teeth, drying your hair and just kind of wandering around naked for twenty minutes I just don’t get.

I really don’t consider myself a prude and I’m certainly not embarrassed at seeing other women naked but it just seems a little odd. I had to walk by the gal taking the uber shower three times tonight and each time she smiled politely. I guess it’s no big thing, I’m just too self conscious. I am, however, a big advocate of not wearing my glasses in the locker room. The fuzzy soft edged shapes i see seem way less intrusive and quite flattering. They might not want the privacy, but I like to think that they would do me the same courtesy…

After a miraculous Dr. visit for Ijah where she just checked me out too I found that I have a sinus infection. Tiny bugs have apperantly invaded my body making me feel all yucky and drained and coughing up grossness, and didn’t let up until I was all infecty. How do I fix this? More tiny little bugs. Nasty tasting if you don’t swallow them fast enough tiny bugs that will wreck havoc upon the currently embedded bugs. Its grasshoppers vs ants, except smaller, and in my chest…weird.

Ijah gets them too, except his are liquid and pink flavored and are going to the right ear battle field.

I am sorry he has an ear infection, it sucks, I’ve had them. But damn am I glad he was acting like spawn of evil because he was uncomfortable, not because he is spawn of evil… I can deal with the spontaneous inconsolable tantrums if I know they are because of ear bugs…

The sick fog is starting to lift a bit here and there, and although it did take possession of my sunglasses (which were somehow lost in a fifteen minute visit at the coffee shop), I feel a bit less brainless today. Good enough to actually try to contain a bit of the chaos that has overtaken the house, despite Shermans awesomeness.

These fogs are usually harmless enough, you awake from them and find your peanut butter in the fridge, your purse in the bathroom for some reason, your keys in the nickel jar. But on occasion the mix of fog and dulled senses can create a dangerous combo. For example…when you realize that the cookie sheet is covering not an empty stock pot as you had assumed, but rather the last few potatoes and all of the water they were boiled in from the mashed potatoes.…that you made five days ago.…

Let’s just say Im glad that my nose is still a bit off kilter and my coughing till I gag has paused for the moment…

It is possible that I am the WORST sick person ever. So this cough, phlegmy, achey, voiceless crap is bothering me. So Sherman has been Mr. Mom on top of everything else while I whine and kind of rest. Luckily my rest so far has consisted of Chinese food, the T.V., and work that can be done on my iPad that centers around really gorgeous dresses. So, overall it could be worse…but I am going to need to watch my Chinese intake while I’m so settled into my corner of the couch if I ever intend to fit into anything close to the dresses I’ve been staring at…

Unfortunately the song blaring was “What becomes of the broken hearted.”

You could almost see the desperation in his eyes as he tried to skip the song…but the bad ass wrap around sunglasses blocked them.
