Old friends…
Elijah and I went out today. Great morning for a walk but also to see an old friend.
Sherman and my anniversary is on Monday. Our wedding anniversary. We have other anniversaries though, days that we should have written down, the ones that were big for us. For example, the first time I told Sherman I loved him, I thought I was joking, I think I asked him to marry me that day, at it was because of this lady. We were just friends.
We had been talking about the Art Institute, and our favorite pieces. She was on both of our “must visit” lists when we went. We visited her the next day and talked about light. Sherman sees light like no one else I know, he sees it clearly and with more detail than I do. We stared at our lady for awhile. She was one more thing that we connected on, the amazing magic of making stone transparent, of capturing beauty with subtlety and detail. Neither of us could do it, we couldn’t explain it, but we were so glad she existed.
We had many great walks around the museum. We haven’t been in awhile. We need to go together soon.
I took Elijah today to see this lady, this little part of his parents history. He was a little worn out from the walk. I was glad to see her though, and I still marveled at her, I could almost hear her ask where Sherman was.

This so looks like Elijah is resting in the tenderness of her gaze. She is looking right at him. What a picture of gentleness. Thank-you.
What a lucky boy!
